Phil Jones was born in Birmingham and since then he has lived in Pembrokeshire, Cardiff, Bristol and Edinburgh. He now lives in Cardiff once again, with his partner, Philippa, and their cat, Mila. His working life has seen him harvesting daffodil bulbs on the fields outside St. David’s and zooming around Wales for various arts charities. He is currently studying for a PhD in Creative Writing at Aberystwyth University.
Phil’s debut poetry pamphlet Summer’s Work was published in summer 2024 by Green Bottle Press. He is a Hay Festival Writer at Work, won the Planet New Writers’ Article Competition, and came runner-up in the New Welsh Review New Welsh Writing Awards. As a musician he records and performs under the name Dusty Cut.
