Biography

Emma Baines is a poet and translator from Pembrokeshire. She has published widely in journals, co-edited ‘The Month had 32 Days’ (Parthian) and is working on her second collection. Emma reads at festivals and events including Llangwm Litfest and Wales PEN Cymru’s event to mark the 100th birthday of Dylan Thomas. She also runs writing walks and workshops on diverse themes from ‘Bards n Shards’ to the Women of West Wales.

Emma translates for multi-award winning poet Menna Elfyn and her work features in her forthcoming collection with Bloodaxe in 2025. Last year, Emma’s translation of ‘Honey Moon’ was commended in the Stephen Spender Prize for Poetry in Translation. She co-hosts Poetry Pause podcast, creates filmpoems and her work features in visual arts. She is interested in how poetry can reach people both on and off the page.
