Born in Cwmbran, DANIEL MORDEN has been a professional teller of traditional stories since 1989. He has toured the world performing and teaching storytelling. He is also the author of many children’s and young adult books based on traditional tales. Two of his books have won the Books Council of Wales Tir Na N-og Prize. He has performed at The National Theatre, The Wales Millenium Centre, The Smithsonian Institute (USA), Sydney Writers Festival, Hay Festival and festivals in Canada, the USA, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, Kenya, Morocco, Belgium and Singapore. In 2017 he was awarded the Hay Festival Medal for his work as a storyteller.
He has taught and told in schools in Wales for over thirty years, and performed to public audiences solo and as a member of The Devil’s Violin. He is at home with an audience of three people as he is with an audience of three thousand. His repertoire ranges from participation- based nursery stories to Homer’s Iliad or The Mabinogion. For many years he has taught an annual residential beginner’s storytelling course at Ty Newydd Writer’s Centre, Llanystumdwy, Gwynedd
