Siân was born in St David’s, Pembrokeshire, and raised in Carmarthenshire. An Edinburgh University graduate, she taught Anglo Saxon and Medieval Literature to university students in South Africa, worked as an assistant editor on the medical journal The Lancet, and ran English and Drama departments in several well-known London secondary schools. In 2007 she returned to Wales permanently and now lives in the Tywi valley. Her first novel Unleaving, published by Y Lolfa, is set in Carmarthenshire and South Africa in the 1920s. Her latest book, Tiding, published by Honno Press in January 2023, is located in west Wales in the winter of 1963 and explores how the inhabitants of a rural township come to terms with the brutal murder of one of their own.
