Born in Türkiye, Özgür’s family emigrated to the UK in 1980. His debut novel “Conception”, a dark satire of the contemporary art world, was published by Fairlight Books in 2020. He was a contributing co-editor for an anthology of essays by under-represented writers called “Just So You Know—Essays of Experience”, published by Parthian in 2020. His short stories, essays and book reviews have been published in the UK since 2017. He is currently a PhD researcher in Creative and Critical Writing at Cardiff University, and he holds an MA (Distinction) in English Literature and Creative Writing from Cardiff Metropolitan University. A collection of Özgür’s short stories will be published by Parthian Books in 2023. He is also a filmmaker with several feature screenplays currently in development.
