Elen Caldecott is a writer for children and young people whose work has been longlisted for the Carnegie Medal, shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and won the Tir Na n-Og Award. She spent her childhood in Llangollen and its surrounding villages as part of a mixed English- and Welsh-speaking community. That community has influenced her writing in books such as The Short Knife and The Blackthorn Branch. She is available to work in schools and the wider community, offering engaging author talks and writing workshops.
