It was shortlisted for the 2022 Wales Book of the Year Award and named as one of the best travel books of the year by The Financial Times and The Telegraph. Pam is American, but has been coming to Wales since she attended graduate school in Lampeter in the 1980s, and now works part-time in Wales as the Co-Director (with Dominic Williams) of the Dylan Thomas Summer School in Creative Writing. Pam is also the author of Travels in an Old Tongue, Sitting up with the Dead, and The Slow Breath of Stone, as well as many essays and articles. She’s also a visual artist, creating photography installations with words, images, and stone.
