Catherine Fisher is a multi-award-winning poet and author of fiction for children and Young People. She has published 5 volumes of poetry with Seren Books and The Poetry Business, and her collection IMMRAMA won the Welsh Arts Council Young Writer’s Prize. She is a past winner of the Cardiff International Poetry Prize. Her most recent poetry collection is THE BRAMBLE KING (Seren 2021)
She is the author of over 40 fantasy and adventure novels and short stories for children, including INCARCERON, (New York Times Bestseller, Times Book of the Year, ) The SNOW WALKER TRILOGY,(Carnegie nominated) the CLOCKWORK CROW trilogy,(Tir na n’Og Winner, Blue Peter Prize shortlist) the CHRONOPTIKA QUARTET and the ORACLE series (Costa Prize shortlist). Her fiction has been translated into over 20 languages. She has twice won the Tir na n’Og prize for children’s fiction and her novel THE CLOCKWORK CROW is in development for a new musical. She has recently published CULHWCH AND OLWEN, a new re-telling of the medieval magical Welsh story from the Mabinogion. Catherine was the inaugural Wales Children’s Laureate for Young People.
She is an experienced adjudicator and broadcaster and has mentored on several Literature Wales schemes.
