I have written over 50 books, and been translated into Chinese (Simplified and Formal), Turkish, Russian, Japanese, Polish, German, Dutch etc. Around 35 of my works have been specifically on Welsh history, and Welsh achievements/culture etc. also find their way into any of my books, which are not specifically of Welsh interest. I always look to add unknown material into every book, e.g. in the first biographies of Jasper and Owen Tudor, and Welsh sources indicating Richard III’s murder of the princes, in my biographies of that king and of Henry VII. My main impetus is always to promote Wales, and to try to push British, i.e. Welsh, history more into the public consciousness. My contextual translation of The Physicians of Myddfai, the first for 150 years, corrected errors and replaced the parts that had been expurgated. Recently I was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, in recognition of my researches over the years.
