Ant Heald is originally from Yorkshire and lives in Llanelli (where he is slowly learning Welsh). He was awarded the inaugural Gwobr Lenyddol Nigel Jenkins Literary Award, 2021, was runner-up in the Planet magazine new writers’ competition 2022, and in 2023 was voted winner of the ‘Mary Oliver Poetic Observer Award’ by fellow members of London Writers’ Salon. He is a regular contributor to spoken word events, and has led writing workshops for ‘People Speak Up’ in Llanelli. His poetry has been anthologised in online journals and in print by ‘Black Bough Poetry’ and ‘Llanelli Miscellany’. He has written creative non-fiction, articles and reviews for Wales Arts Review and Nation.Cymru and was included in the latter’s ‘best of 2021’ round-up.
