William Cross, FSA Scot was born in 1953 at Lanark, Clydeside, Scotland. Educated in Scotland and at the Universities of London and Southampton. Also a graduate of the University of Wales, Caerleon. Married with two sons, proud of having two Welsh grandchildren. Retired civil servant, 1967-2005, working in revenue expatriate and tax investigations throughout the UK, mainly London.
Lived in Newport, Gwent since 1999. A writer, & lecturer author/co-author of numerous scandal mongering books on members of the Morgan family of Tredegar House, & as many sacacious books again on the Herberts (Carnarvons) of Highclere Castle (the backdrop to Downton Abbey and stories about two darn cats.
He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland & a member of the Society of Authors.
