Biography

I have a range of interests as a writer.
My background is in the theatre, I have played numerous roles from the age of 12 including writing, directing and producing my own script about Evacuees which I would love to recall back to see on a stage again.
I missed watching live theatre, a particular favourite is Noises Off by Michael Frayne. I have an MA in Creative Writing with the Open University which has allowed me to explore script, essay, prose and poetry in all their glorious forms.
I am a published poet of a collection called ‘Eccentric’, that expresses my experiences as a woman surrounding unspoken taboos, expletives, self-discovery and treading a path away from the ‘normal’. It is called ‘Eccentric’ to challenge my own preconceptions of female language and defining my voice.
I recently became a member on the panel of female storytellers in Wales called Chwedl.
I am engaged with multiple form narratives; including illustration, spoken word and movement. Humour is woven through my work as I tread the path through my recent grief of losing my beloved pet. When storytelling, I tend to meander through Greek and Welsh tales that explores my heritage. In researching and reviewing them, it helps me to understand my own learning difficulty: dyspraxia and my past which are inexplicably linked.

Storytelling has offered me many opportunities including working with the marvellous talents of Fiona Collins and Gillian Brownson who I consider my mentors as well as Siân Miriam who inspires me to use a musical element within my work. For the last two years, I have mentored young people with Sidmouth Folk Festival alongside Shooting Roots, who offer workshops of folk arts through a diverse Youth programme.
I also review books with Buzz Magazine, as well as write features and interviews with a diverse range of Welsh creatives after an intensive course they held during lockdown.
