Thomas Docherty is an award winning children’s author and illustrator based in Swansea. His picture books have been translated into over 25 languages and are enjoyed by children and parents around the world. Thomas often works with his wife, children’s author Helen Docherty creating books like The Snatchabook and The Screen Thief. He has also illustrated work by Julia Donaldson and Jenny Colgan.
Thomas and Helen regularly deliver workshops and storytelling sessions in schools and libraries across the country. Recently they have worked closely with Swansea Council’s Best Start program, helping young parents create their own picture books to read to their children. They also collaborate with Swansea’s Storyopolis project and the Welsh government Lead Creative Schools programme to deliver ‘a book in a day’ writing workshops with local school children, helping them tell their own stories.
