Born in Newport, South Wales, Adele Cordner is a poet and playwright. Her first poetry pamphlet, the Kitchen Sink Chronicles was published in January 2021 and her full collection, Tea & Toast will be published early in 2022, both by The Hedgehog Poetry Press. Her poetry has been published in Red Poets Magazine, Poems for Grenfell Tower, Poems for Peace, Resilience anthology and online, and has been placed in many poetry competitions. Adele is the co-ordinator of Newport Poetry Stanza workshop group and a member of NaCOT poetry group in Chepstow.
Adele’s short play The Firestarter was performed by Dirty Protest in November 2021 and her full play The Balloon Girls will be performed by Newport Playgoers Society in January 2022. Her play, My Favourite Dog, is currently in development with Odyssey Theatre Company and will be toured in Thailand and Wales in 2022.
Adele is a mum to four grown-up children and enjoys writing about motherhood and family life. Her plays feature strong women characters and she enjoys dramatising historical stories where women have played a major role in the shaping of events. She also loves nature and wildlife and this features across her work.
