I am Diane Woodrow. I moved to Abergele in Feb 2016 with my husband, dog and cat. I have fallen in love with the whole area from the sea shore to the mountains.
My first publication, The Little Yellow Boat, even though a children’s picture book, was inspired by my own life of getting in a mess going off on adventures alone and the need for friends to support me, as well as from by long walks along the North Wales coast with my little dog. It was released in February 2021 and because of that time has been seen as a “lockdown book” appealing to adults as much as to children.
I have two writing projects on the go at the moment. One is a selection of poems inspired by my walks with the dog around the area. The other is writing the back stories of some of the women in the Mabinogion, using it as a way of looking at women’s issues and feelings which get overlooked in the Mabinogion, but also in present day too.
I facilitate writing groups for adults and in schools. I am working on a project with Youthshedz entitled “We are pushed towards the Ultimate goal but what about our stories” which is growing into something that could be used in schools, offenders institutes, churches, and much more.
