Biography

Angela Johnson was born in Newcastle Emlyn on the banks of the River Teifi. For a number of years she worked as an English teacher. trying to find time to write every day. and later studied Creative Wwriting at the University of Kent and was awarded a Distinction. Her novel Harriet and her Women was shortlisted for the Impress Prize for Fiction. Her novel Arianwen was published by Black Bee Books Llandeilo in September 2020. It portrays a rural community acress a broad sweep of the twentieth century and draws on the author’s memories of the hard lives of the farming communiies in West Wales, and she wa sinspired by the stories told by her grandfather and the unique rhythms of the Welsh language which was the language of her childhood.
Angela also write sshort stories and poetry and has won the Poetry Prize at the Folkestone Arts Festival.
She lives in Kent close to the River Thames and the marshes depicted by Dickens in Great Expectations.
