Cardiff based poet Taz Rahman’s first poetry collection ‘East of the Sun, West of the Moon’ is forthcoming from Seren Books in February 2024. He had been selected for the 2023 Hay Festival ‘Writers at Work’ programme, shortlisted for the Aesthetica Creative Writing Prize 2022, and was also awarded a place in the Representing Wales writer development programme by Literature Wales in 2021. Previously, he had been selected for masterclasses with Gillian Clarke and Caleb Femi.
His poetry has been widely published in leading UK poetry magazines. He is the present reader’s committee chair of the leading poetry magazine Poetry Wales and part of the editorial team for climate emergency themed literary magazine Modron.
A literary film-maker, he founded Wales’ first Youtube poetry channel Just Another Poet (www.youtube.com/@justanotherpoet2542) in 2019 to widen access to poetry and poets. The channel received commissions from Literature Wales in 2020 and is presently a recipient of the Books Council of Wales (2022-2024) New Audience Fund award. Other channel commissions included collaborative projects with a number of Arts Council funded projects.
