Dr. Simon Brooks is an academic and a historian of Welsh culture. His publications include Why Wales never was?, a treatise on the history of Welsh nationalism, and a number of Welsh-language titles including Adra: byw yn y gorllewin Cymraeg, which followed the life of a Welsh-speaking community in Gwynedd over the course of a year. His book, Hanes Cymry: Lleiafrifoedd ethnig yn y gwareiddiad Cymraeg, published in 2021 by the University of Wales Press, is the first history of ethnic minorities in Welsh-speaking Wales. Originally from a Welsh family in London, he now lives near Porthmadog. He is currently working on a book about Welsh-language life in England.
