Sian Northey is a full time writer. An author, poet, editor, translator and writing workshop facilitator, she’s published fiction for children and adults as well as poetry and creative non-fiction. Her first novel, Yn y Tŷ Hwn, was selected to be on the Wales Literature Exchange’s ‘bookshelf’. Her first poetry collection Trwy Ddyddiau Gwydr (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch) was shortlisted for the 2014 Wales Book of the Year Award. In 2016 and 2017 she was one of the Hay Festival’s Writers at Work. Her latest book, a collection of short stories, Cylchoedd, was published by Gwasg y Bwthyn in 2020. She has a PhD in Creative Writing from Bangor University and is interested in writing and health and wellbeing.
An English translation of Yn y Tŷ Hwn will be published in March 2024 (3TmesRebel Press, translator Sue Walton). During 2023 Sian was a poet in residence for the Llwybr Cadfan project run by the Diocese of Bangor, and was also a writer in residence on Enlli/Bardsey Island.
