Rhys Iorwerth is a poet and author and he lives in Caernarfon. He won the Chair at the 2011 National Eisteddfod, the Crown at the 2023 National Eisteddfod, and the Welsh language poetry prize at the 2015 Wales Book of the Year Awards for his collection, Un Stribedyn Bach. He published his first prose volume, Abermandraw, in 2017. In 2020, he won the Michael Marks Award for Poetry in a Celtic Language for his pamphlet, Carthen Denau. He regularly performs at literary events throughout Wales, and is one of the founders of the Bragdy’r Beirdd live poetry events, held in Cardiff and Caernarfon. He also teaches cynghanedd night classes and is a keen competitor with the Dros yr Aber and Deheubarth poetry teams.
