Poet and novelist Eurig Salisbury is a Lecturer in Creative Writing in the Department of Welsh and Celtic Studies at Aberystwyth University. In 2011, he published a collection of poetry for children, Sgrwtsh!, and he was Bardd Plant Cymru (Welsh-language Children’s Laureate) 2011–13. He was a Hay Festival International Fellow 2012–13 and has travelled widely as a poet. Eurig won the Prose Medal at the 2016 National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny with his first novel, Cai. In 2019, he published his second collection of poetry for adults, Llyfr Gwyrdd Ystwyth, and co-edited a collection of articles on Welsh poetry with Aneirin Karadog, Y Gynghanedd Heddiw. Eurig and Aneirin also present and produce Clera, a monthly podcast about the Welsh-language poetry scene. With Hywel Griffiths, Eurig organises Cicio’r Bar, a regular poetry and music event in Aberystwyth, and he frequently collaborates with Sampurna Chattarji, a poet and novelist based in Mumbai. In 2023–4, he was appointed Bardd y Dref (town poet) for Aberystwyth, the first appointment of its kind in Wales.
