LLIF
9 of the 14 writers come from various countries in Europe: Switzerland, Catalonia – Spain, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Hungary, the Faroe Islands, and Friesland – the Netherlands. Literature Wales is grateful to nine organisations, under the guidance and encouragement of EUNIC London, for nominating and sponsoring these writers’ visits to Wales.
The other 5 writers represent some of the most established and brilliant poets in Wales – they are ambassadors for our literature, for the Welsh language, and for Wales’ innovation as a country of creativity.
Some of the main themes of the retreat include the climate crisis, ecology, nature and society, and several of the writers will address these topics through the lens of minoritised languages and dialects including Welsh, Catalan, Faroese, Latgalian and more.
A program of talks, field trips and workshops will be organised for the cohort to encourage collaborations, the sharing of ideas and good practice, and to stimulate new projects across Europe.
You can read more about the writers below, and about the partners, sponsors and supporters of the LLIF residency.
We look forward to sharing more about the residency, including some creative output and musings from the writers over the coming year.
We’re grateful to all the funders and partners who have made this retreat possible: EUNIC London, Welsh Government, Wales Arts International through Arts Council Wales, British Council, Literature Across Frontiers, and Hay Festival.
