The author and poet Casia Wiliam has recently established a new creative writing group in Bethesda, Gwynedd as part of our Lit in Place scheme. The writing group has been meeting since April at Canolfan Cefnfaes in Bethesda and is called ‘Diosg’. The name is inspired by a poem by Casia which discusses their experiences with the writers.
Lit in Place, in partnership with WWF Cymru, explores the climate and nature emergency through literature, and explores practical solutions for its effects on our communities. The project in Bethesda has received funding from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund via Cyngor Gwynedd, and is supported by Partneriaeth Ogwen and GwyrddNi.
“We use writing and literature as a way of getting closer to nature and the environment in our sessions; taking a creative opportunity to explore what nature and the local community mean to us. We look at different styles of writing, look at the work of different writers, hear from local experts and go out to enjoy nature around us in the sessions. A great group attend the sessions and we really benefit from coming together to enjoy, learn and write.”
