Literature for Well-being Funding Scheme

Our Literature for Well-being Funding Scheme offers financial support and training for writers and artists to create and deliver original community-based creative writing projects. Each project is devised by the writer/artist with a specific group in mind.

Participation in literature is one of our main priorities. The Literature for Well-being Funding Scheme aims to inspire and empower some of the most marginalised and vulnerable individuals and communities through participation in literature activities. Each workshop series has a clearly defined output, from the creation of a poetry pamphlet to an exhibition, radio monologues to an EP of songs.

In line with the new Strategic Plan for 2019-2022, the writers will primarily work with those who identify with our three Target Client Characteristics: individuals from BAME backgrounds; individuals on low incomes; and individuals with disabilities or illnesses (mental and physical).

2019 Projects

Following an open call-out for project pitches in June 2019, Literature Wales is supporting 10 projects across Wales this winter. These activities are delivered by writers and arts practitioners who have received Safeguarding and Participation training as part of this scheme.

Workshops take place over 4-6 sessions. They are innovative and inclusive working with a variety of groups including: LGBT, prisoners, refugees, neonatal parents and people accessing mental health support.
