“Sarn Helen: Wales, the Saints and the Climate Emergency” Tom Bullough
Tom will be discussing Sarn Helen: a Journey Through Wales, Past, Present and Future, winner of the 2024 Wales Book of the Year. Built around a long walk across Wales, the book considers the likely impacts of the climate and nature emergency, but also explores attitudes to the natural world in the 5th and 6th-century Age of Saints – drawing lessons from Wales’s earliest days that might help us navigate the next few decades. Tom will also talk about the River Wye, the subject of his latest project, Tarddle/ Source.
This event is part of the first Newport Festival of Words taking place from the 20th – 23rd March. A celebration of words, from songwriting to storytelling, poetry to prose, and featuring local, national and international writers and performers.
